Atwima-Mponua constituency NDC picks officers

Nyinahin (Ash), Oct 28, GNA – Mr Akwasi Twumasi, a 50-year-old farmer, was on Thursday elected chairman of the Atwima-Mponua constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Party’s delegates’ congress held at Nyinahin.

Mr Twumasi polled 64 votes to beat three others – Mallam Iddrisu Alhassan, who got 41 votes, Mallam Hamidu Abubakar, 39 votes and Akwasi Adjei who polled 30 votes.

Mr Kwaku Adjabeng, the incumbent chairman did not contest the elections.

The incumbent secretary of the Party, Mr Korjuang Tumbe Snr, retained his post unopposed while Madam Margaret Dufie, Women’s Organiser and her deputy, Madam Akua Asor, were also unanimously retained.

Mr Osei Assibey, the incumbent constituency organizer, polled 128 votes to retain his post, beating Mr Nathan Amankwaa who had 50 votes. However, the Youth Organiser, Mr Kwabena Otu lost to Alhaji Issaka Combat.

Mallam Musah Asibli was also returned unopposed as the treasurer. Speaking after the elections, Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, advised supporters of the party to close their ranks and intensify their house-to-house campaign towards victory in 2008. 28 Oct. 05
