Atwima-Mponua assembly presents items to schools and communities

Nyinahin (Ash), Jan 12, GNA – The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly on Wednesday presented television sets, cement and roofing sheets to second cycle schools and some communities at Nyinahin.

Four communities, Aniamoa, Betinko, Antwi-Adjeikrom and Akotaa received 1,500 bags of cement and 50 packets of roofing sheets valued at 142 million cedis to assist them to build living quarters for teachers. Mpasatia Secondary/Technical School and Nyinahin Catholic Secondary School received a 29-inch colour television set each and 20 bags of cement each.

The assembly also presented 25 sewing machines to the Nyinahin Dressmakers and Tailors Association.

Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the District Chief Executive who presented the items to the beneficiaries, said the assembly had already presented 23 television sets to some basic schools in the district to facilitate the distance education programme.

He advised the beneficiary communities to use the cement and roofing sheets to complete their projects.

Mr Owusu-Ansah said the assembly has also supported the Nyinahin Catholic Secondary School, the Mpasatia Secondary/Technical School and the Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) with 60 million cedis.

The assembly later donated an anaesthetic machine valued at 120 million cedis to the Nyinahin Government Hospital and 50 million cedis worth of hospital equipment and a mower to the Anglican Clinic at Tanodumase.

Dr Alhassan Adam Yussif, Medical Officer in-charge of the hospital who received the items, thanked the assembly and said the items had come at an opportune time since the hospital could now perform major operations.
