Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly elects DCE

Foase (Ash), July 16, GNA – Members of the new Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly have approved Mr. Emmanuel Agyei Dankwa, President’s nominee for the post of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area. At the election held at Foase on Tuesday, Mr Dankwa got 25 votes out of 29 ballots cast, representing 86.2 percent. This was the third time members of the Assembly voted to choose a DCE, after a previous nominee, Mr Oppong Kyekyeku, failed twice to get the required two-thirds majority.

In an address after the election, Mr Osei-Assibey Antwi, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, urged assembly members to rally behind the new DCE to bring development to the area.

He cautioned them against back-biting and other divisive tendencies that could stall the socio-economic progress of the district. He said government had voted about GH¢100,000 towards socio-economic development of the area.
