Atuabo gas plant shuts down for maintenance

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Ellembele District of the Western Region, has been shut down for its first mandatory maintenance work. The ongoing repair works is expected to last between10 and 14 days.

The Ghana Gas Company which began operations in November last year, on April 10 2015, issued a statement on its first mandatory maintenance work on the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant.

Aside the required safety procedures, the planned shutdown is also needed for warranty assurance and viability of its operating insurance.

The Volta River Authority said the temporal shutdown of the processing plant would not impact negatively on the power crisis.

VRA in a statement said the authority had procured sufficient crude oil for its thermal plants at Aboadze for the period of the shutdown.
