Koforidua, July 11, GNA – The Attorney General’s Department is taking steps to reduce the attrition rate of attorneys in the Judicial Service.
Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, said this while opening a two-day workshop in Koforidua on Friday to review a three-year strategic plan for state attorneys.
She said the Department aimed to deliver the best legal services for the country and that it was concerned with the development and management of state attorneys to ensure human rights and access to justice for all.
The workshop drew participants from the Ministry of Justice, the Legal Service Scheme and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
Mrs Mould-Iddrisu said the procedure would help transform the Department into a centre of excellence for rendering legal opinion and legal services to the Government of Ghana and the general public.
She said the Department, in collaboration with the Judicial Service, had set up a task force to take charge of issues concerning remand prisoners under the Justice for All Programme.
