Ex-Vice President and Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Political committee, Professor John Atta Mills has denied reports that he intends to quit politics. “The Dispatch” newspaper reported in its 16th July edition that the former Law Lecturer has decided to take a sabbatical leave to teach and write some books The paper concluded that that this will further deepen the leadership crisis affecting the NDC.
But in an interview with JOYFM, Professor Mills who says he has received a lot of offers from various academic institutions and organisations denied that he intends to quit politics. “ I have not declared any such intentions. It is true that I have had a lot of offers from Non-Governmental Organisations and various universities but I have not considered taking them up.”
Professor Mills assured the party’s supporters that he has not taken any such decision, describing as unfortunate reports that the NDC is breaking apart. “I’m worried about this report because just yesterday, I led NDC supporters to attend the funeral of the Chief of Dagomba at Ashiaman and it will be a stab in the back if I had said that I was quitting the party.”
