Atlas Copco hands over school to Anyinam Methodist KG

Obuasi, Jan 19, GNA – Atlas Copco, an international giant in the business of selling and servicing construction and mining equipment, has built a two-classroom block and rehabilitated additional two classrooms for the Obuasi-Anyinam Methodist Kindergarten School. The Company also donated 100 pieces of dual desks and four cupboards to the School.

Speaking at the function, Ms Sussana Manu, Human Resource Manager of the Company, said children at the Kindergarten were at their critical stage of development and that it was important for teachers to take good care of them to help unearth their talents.

She pointed out that even though the facilities were part of the company’s social responsibility, “what we are seeing today is the result of healthy relationship between the Company and the Anyinam community”. Mr Kofi Dwomo-Asubonteng, Obuasi Municipal Coordinating Director, stressed the need for a good culture of maintenance, and appealed to the teachers and the entire community to maintain the school block in a manner that would motivate the Company to do more projects for them. He said the development of education was one of the major priorities of the Assembly and that the contributions of Atlas Copco were a clear demonstration of its readiness to partner the Assembly to improve educational facilities in the Municipality. Mr Kofi Mensah, the Public Relations Officer of the Municipal Education Directorate who deputised for the Municipal Director, urged the teachers and the head to demonstarte true commitment and dedication to their work so that the investment made by the Company yielded results for the benefit of the community.

“The thinking that Kindergarten is a playing and sleeping class is wrong. Let the children develop an early interest for learning so that they do not drop out of school as they progress”, he stressed. Cutting the tape to inaugurate the facilities, the Communication Officer of Atlas Copco, Miss Gladys Mante, noted that education was a pivot area the Company was very keen to support, since as the future human resource of the nation, the children need an ideal environment for learning.
