Asutifi District Assembly organises Public forum on education

Kenyasi (B/A) Aug. 24, GNA -Asutifi District in the Brong-Ahafo Region on Tuesday organised a public forum on education at Kenyasi. Issues on the provision of potable water, sanitation and health were also discussed at the forum attended by the chiefs and people from Acherensua, Hwediem, Ntotrorso, Nkasiem, Nkrankrom, Gambia Number One and Two.

The people had complained about poor standard of teaching and learning in the district.

Mr. Opoku Peprah, District Chief Executive, said the forum was part of the Government’s decentralization policy to ensure good governance. “There cannot be good governance without the active involvement of all segments of the community,” he said and called for a spirit of volunteerism among the youth to ensure rapid development of the district.

Nana Kontor Fofie, Krontihene of Kenyasi Number Two, stressed the need for bye-laws to ban children from attending video shows to instil discipline among them.

He called for the posting of trained teachers to the district to help improve the standard of education. 24 Aug.05
