Association Advices On Recruitment Of Best Teacher’s Into The Service –

Kumasi, (Ashanti Region) 19, Sept. Mr. Edward Nakpannor Naaso, President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), has called on the Ministry of Education to recruit only the best into the teaching service. This will ensure that teachers are able to cope with the increasing demands on them to help raise educational and professional standards. Speaking at the third triennial Ashanti Regional Delegates conference of the GNAT in Kumasi, Mr. Nasso called for innovative incentives to attract and retain competent teachers. The two-day conference is deliberating on the association’s activities over the past three years, assess its achievements and failures and initiate plans for the ensuing years. He noted that without competent and motivated teachers, aspirations for high quality and effective education service cannot be achieved. The GNAT President called on the government to adopt protective measures to ensure the growth and continued expansion of vital sectors like education and health in the face of economic liberalisation.
