Assembly takes over running of public toilets

Breman Asikuma (C/R), June 13, GNA – Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly has privatised all public toilets to ensure effective management.

Investigations showed that the operations of the toilet were in the hands of few individuals under the supervision of the unit committees and they failed to render accounts. Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson, the District Chief Executive, said this at the third ordinary meeting of the assembly at Breman Asikuma. He said the assembly would receive revenue from the private operators.

Mr Domson said some projects have been completed under the Social Investment Fund (SIF).

These are a three unit classroom block with a four- seat KVIP toilet for Bedum Presby Junior Secondary School and a six-unit classroom block with four-seat KVIP toilet for Bedum T.I. Ahamdiyya Primary School have been completed.

He said a six-unit classroom block with an office, a store and a six-seat toilet for Colonel Baidoo Primary School at Breman Asikuma has been commissioned and handed over to the community. It was financed with funds from the GETfund.
