Assembly steps up revenue mobilization drive

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), June 23, GNA – The Amansie West District Assembly has intensified revenue mobilization as part of an aggressive push to carry through its development agenda.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Charles Oti-Prempeh, said the Assembly had bought a Nissan pick-up to aid its revenue collectors in their job.

Out of an estimated revenue target of GH¢213,800.00, for the year 2010, the Assembly collected GH¢199,068.68, representing 93.11 per cent.

The DCE, who was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Manso-Nkwanta, said during the period total receipts of its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) stood at GH¢600,452.47 out of an expected GH¢1,312,236.45 from the Administrator of the Common Fund.

Mr Oti-Prempeh told the meeting that the assembly was looking forward to receiving GH¢1,919,068.94 from the DACF.

The money would be used to complete on-going projects including school blocks, health structures, a library complex and sanitation facilities.

He said the Assembly was determined to bring about development to improve to the people’s living conditions.

The meeting unanimously approved of the Assembly’s revenue and expenditure budget of GH¢2,140,347.78 for 2011.
