Assembly members urged to cooperate with stakeholders

Half Assini (W/R), June 14, GNA 97 Assembly members have been advised to cooperate with traditional rulers, members of Parliament, district coordinating directors and presiding members to ensure effective local governance administration.

Mr Sylvester Noumah Daddieh, the District Chief Executive for Jomoro said at the opening of a three-day orientation workshop for assembly members in the district at Half Assini on Tuesday.

“This is very important, particularly if there would be any meaningful socio-economic development in the district because united people always triumph over any obstacle”, he said.

Mr Daddieh noted that the Assembly would only thrive when each of the actors was fully aware of its relationship with the other.

He said the orientation course would enhance the capacity of the assembly members in ensuring effective implementation of the decentralization process.

The DCE urged them to disseminate information about government programmes and policies to the electorate and mobilize the people for community services.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Institute of Local Government Studies and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
