Assembly member to contest in this year’s parliamentary race

Accra March 22, GNA – Mr. Ziblim Alhassan, former Assembly Member of the Bawku Electoral Area in the East Mamprusi District has declared his intentions to join this year’s parliamentary race on the ticket of the People’s National Convention (PNC) or go independent.

His decision to join the race has become necessary due to the failure of the past and incumbent NDC member of parliament of the area to bring positive transformation in the socio-economic lives of the people, it was contained in a statement issued and signed by Mr Alhassan on Monday.

The statement said Mr. Alhassan’s strong desire of ensuring that the socio-economic lives of the people were improved to an appreciable level, makes him a better and obvious alternative to the current Member of Parliament.

He promised not to turn away from the electorate or abandon on-going development projects when given the opportunity as has become the practice, only to return to them during the next election, abusing incumbency to win votes.

It said, he cited a clear instance where the LIDRA Construction Ltd. abandon a road contract in his former electoral area even though investigation at the Ministry proved that monies had been paid for work done and called for a full-scale investigation into this contract to re-assure the rural people that they were also Ghanaians.
