Assembly confirms Sunyani West DCE

The 53 members of Sunyani West District Assembly in Brong-Ahafo on Tuesday confirmed Mrs Agnes Kusi, the Presidential nominee as District Chief Executive (DCE).

Mrs Kusi, a 46 year-old teacher and Assembly Member for Nsoatre Newtown, polled 46 votes, representing 86.7 percent in an election organized and supervised by the Electoral Commission.

In November 2011, President John Evans Atta Mills removed Mr. Kwadwo Osei Asibey from office and since then Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Regional Minister, has been acting as chief executive.

Mrs Kusi, who is also Sunyani West constituency women’s organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), thanked her colleague Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in her and assured them she would work in unity with them.

“We should all be reminded that the development of our district is our political goal and philosophy”, she said.

Addressing the Assembly Members prior to the election, Mr. Kwame Agyenim Boateng, the Presiding Member, advised them to put aside parochialism and their political differences as the confirmation of the President’s nominee would push the development of the district to a higher pedestal.**
