Assembly builds more schools to improve education

Bibiani (W/R), Dec 20, GNA- The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly has initiated measures to improve education, especially at the basic and second cycle levels in the area. The assembly is building an administration block for the Sefwi-Bekwai Senior High School, a three-unit junior high school block each at Surano, Bekwai, Bibiani Old Town and Aboduabo and a six-unit classroom block each at Awaso, Anyinase, Fawokabra and Bibiani and cr=E8che at Bibiani.

This was announced by Mr Kingsley Adjei-Manu, the District Chief Executive at the fourth ordinary meeting of the assembly at Bibiani. He said three-unit junior high school block and six-unit primary classroom blocks have already been completed at Krodua, Subri, Nzemankwa, Aboabo and Bethlehem.

Mr Adjei-Manu said since the introduction of the Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme, school enrolment in the district increased from 22,166 to 28,520.

He urged assembly members to support school authorities to improve upon teaching and learning. Mr Adjei-Manu said between January and November this year, a total of 68,566 people have registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme and appealed to those yet to join to do so for affordable health care delivery.

He said some feeder roads in the district have been rehabilitated enhancing socio-economic activities. Mr Adjei-Manu said the assembly has built police stations at Subri and Anhwiaso at the cost of GH=A217,000 and a children’s ward for the Bibiani Government Hospital at the cost of GH=A210,000 cedis. He said the district ranked third in the Western Region and eighth at the national level, on the revenue mobilisation chart prepared by the National Development Planning Commission. Mr. Adjei-Manu appealed to the people to honour their tax obligation regularly and promptly to enable the assembly to generate more funds for development.
