Assemblies asked to create special desks for youth

Osabarima Kwaw Entsie II, Omanhene of Mpohor, on Saturday called for the creation of special desks at the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies so that the youth could access information on activities of the assemblies.

He said this would help the youth to effectively participate in local governance, and to enable them to take advantage of opportunities for the youths in the local government Acts.

Osabarima Entsie II said this at the launch of a documentary on ‘Youth and Local Governance’ by Youth Bridge Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), with support from the USAID and LOGODEP, also NGOs.

He asked the youth to also take interest in local governance and submit their views to the assemblies.

Mr. Seth Oteng, Executive Director of the Foundation, said effective participation of the youth in decision-making was key to nation building.

He stressed that the youth were important agents for development and must take part in decision-making and governance.

Mr. Oteng cautioned the youth to unite their diverse political inclinations towards development.
