Accra, Ghana — In 1985 Patrick Gyimah Awuah left Ghana to study engineering and economics on a scholarship to Swarthmore College. Within 12 years he had become one of many “Microsoft millionaires,” ordinary employees who found themselves reaping unexpected gains on the stocks they bought when they joined the company.
