Asebu Launches Education Fund

NANA OKATAKYI AMANFI VII, Omanhene of Asebu traditional area, has observed that since education is the key to every development, it has become necessary to launch an Education Fund to enable Asebu citizens benefit from it.

He said the fund will go a long way to assist the poor who cannot afford to bear the cost of their education from JSS to tertiary level.

Nana made these remarks when launching the Asebuman Education Fund (AEF) which coincided with the Great Kae Arko Festival here at the weekend.

He, however, cautioned heads of the various institutions of learning to do their best to make the fund useful and beneficial to the youth.

He thanked the chiefs of Asebu traditional area for the support during his one year rule as Omanhene of the area to solve various chieftaincy disputes.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Abura-Asebu-Kwamakese, Mr. Andrew K.

Mensah, thanked the Omanhene and the chiefs for their decision to solve the rampant chieftaincy disputes in the area to bring peace.

He hinted that the District Assembly is ready to assist them financially to enable them to live up to expectation.

He, however, expressed concern about the lukewarm attitude of some people in paying the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) loaned to beneficiaries totalling ?320 million.

He, therefore, pleaded with the people to pay their debts to enable others to benefit. An appeal for funds yielded ?4.1 million.
