Asantehene is expected back home on Sunday

Accra, July 23, GNA- The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, would return home from the United Kingdom and the United States on Sunday, July 25, after a six-week working visit to the two countries. He would then pay a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday July 26, according to a statement issued on Friday by Mr Kojo Yankah, a Media Consultant.

The statement said the highlight of the Asantehene’s visit was a working schedule with officials of the World Bank in Washington, DC. It said he also held meetings with business executives, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and international agencies. The statement said the Asantehene used the opportunity to request for a grant to support water and sanitation facilities for 1,000 communities in four regions.

He also got assurances of IFC support for the establishment of three private sector ventures in the Ashanti Region – a Venture Capital Fund, a Plant Pool Leasing Company and a 200-computer information and resource centre, the statement said.
