Asante-Akim South teachers receive laptops

One hundred and ninety-six basic school teachers in the Asante-Akim South District have been presented with laptop computers as part of the drive to enhance the teaching of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the area.

They had earlier benefited from an intensive ICT training programme, organised jointly by the Education Ministry and rLG communications.

Mr. De-graft Forkuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), handing these over in a ceremony, said in all, 530 teachers would be supplied with laptop computers.

This, he said, was a clear demonstration of the government’s determination to enhance the quality of education.

ICT, he noted, was critical to effective teaching and learning and that was why no effort would be spared to make sure that teachers and school children had access to computers.

He said the expectation was that the beneficiaries would make optimal use of them to raise the standard of education.

Mr. Ignatius Mwinbe Ere-Der, the District Education Director, commended the government for the bold efforts at promoting ICT education.

He urged the teachers to take good care of the machines and use them to bring changes to their performance.
