Asante Akim Central gets MCE

The Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region has finally settled on a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to run the affairs of the assembly after rejecting Mr George Kyei Baffour, the President’s nominee for the assembly twice.

The President’s new nominee, Mrs Susan Akomea, had an overwhelming endorsement and was confirmed as MCE for the Municipality.

Mrs Akomea had 34 votes out of the 35 total valid votes cast representing 97.1 per cent while one voted against her.

Mrs Akomea after her confirmation promised to unite the assembly members irrespective of their political affiliations.

She thanked the assembly members for given her an overwhelming endorsement.

The Ashanti regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, who supervised the elections, advised the MCE to work with the assembly members without discrimination to bring development to the area
