Asafo companies appeal to House of Chiefs to settle chieftaincy matter

Winneba, June 14, GNA – The Tuafo No 1 and Dentsifo No 2 Asafo Companies of Winneba, have appealed to the Central Regional House of Chie fs to expedite action on the settlement of the Winneba chieftaincy dispute pending before it to ensure harmony and development. The two companies said the early adjudication of the matter would go a long way to bring lasting peace and harmony in the area, to ensure the peaceful celebration of next year’s Aboakyer festival, in the Effutu Traditional Area.

Neenyi Kojo Beedu V, Chairman of the 2010 Aboakyer Planning Committe e and a Patron of the Two Asafo Companies, announced these at the Press Conference in Winneba to officially apologize to Ghanaians and World at large for the abrupt end of this year’s Aboakyer festival celebration.

He said the Asafo Companies have assured the Effutuman that if the dispute was settled amicably, the Aboakyer Festival would be celebrated i n a peaceful manner and it would bring economic benefit to the Effutu citizen s. Neenyi Beedu said the perpetrators of the crime, which caused an abr upt end to the celebrations, have been arrested and they were being prosecute d to serve as deterrent to others. “We also sincerely apologize to the Central Regional Minister, Mrs A ma Benyiwa Doe and other invited guests who travelled to Winneba to witness the Aboakyer Festival, but were disappointed by the sudden cancellation of so me important part of the festival, due to clashes by the members of the two companies”.
