Tadzewu, (V/R), Dec. 26, GNA-The Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) a Christian denomination has resumed its annual end-of-year convention stalled for years following factional differences over succession after the death in 1999 of its Founder and spiritual leader Mawufeame Reverend Apostle C.K. Wovenu.
Reverend Apostle Amega, whose succession bid was opposed by Reverend Apostle C.K. Attipoe and Mama Kekeli Afanyetornye, was flanked by the two in a gesture of peace and reconciliation. As had been the tradition of the Society, several of its members from around the world this year thronged its international headquarters at Tadzewu to attend its 67th Convention. The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) early this year brokered peace between the factions to pave the way for the resumption of the convention this year.
About 50 Police personnel were however deployed in the Tadzewu town and the Society’s enclave where the weeklong convention is taking place even though the atmosphere remained peaceful. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister who addressed the large congregation expressed joy that tranquility has returned paving the way for the resumption of the Society’s activities. He said government was hopeful that ARS would regain its spiritual mission and discipline with its spillover effect among the citizenry towards a united country.
Reverend Apostle Amega asked for God’s blessing for all and the healing of old wounds so that unity and peace would forever prevail for building a much stronger Society. He appealed to government to as a matter of urgency repair the road to Tadzewu and to extend potable water supply to its people. Reverend Apostle Attipoe on the other hand exhorted members of the Society to take courage in the Lord for resolving the problem, which had bedeviled the Society. The convention would involve healing, prayers, counselling, cultural displays, thanks offerings and clean-up activities.
