Archbishop of York honours President Kufuor

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA – With barely three months to end his eight-year term of office, President John Agyekum Kufuor continues to attract international honours for his leadership and contribution to global peace. The latest to recognize his good works is the Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend John Sentamu.

He travelled down to Accra on Sunday to present to him a medal and specially designed vase valued at 90,000 pounds sterling, made to commemorate the bi-centenary of the abolition of slavery. The Most Reverend Sentamu shares the treasured prize (prize) with the Queen, Speakers of both Houses of the British Parliament (House of Commons and House of Lords) and the family of William Wilberforce, the British Parliamentarian, who championed the abolition of the inhuman trade.

President Kufuor thanked the Archbishop for the honour. He said it was one of the hallmarks of his Presidency that he would forever cherish.
