Apirade new Catholic Church inaugurated

Apirade (Ash), Aug. 26, GNA – The Very Reverend Philip Opoku Nyame, Parish Priest of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi on Sunday inaugurated a new Catholic Church at Apirade with a call on churches to extend their evangelisation to the rural communities. He said he was not happy with the situation where churches were springing up daily in the cities and urban centres while the rural areas where salvation was most needed were being neglected. The new church named the Saint John the Baptist Church is under the Amakom parish.

Rev Father Nyame said the opening of the church in the community was in fulfilment of Christ’s mission on earth for he (Christ) went round to evangelise to win more souls into Christianity and urged Christians to set good examples for others to follow. He appealed to the traditional authorities to release land to the church for development as part of its social responsibility to the people.

Nana Kusi Brimpong, Abusuapanin of Apirade, commended the Catholic Church for contributing to the development of the country and pledged to support its existence and survival in the community.
