Anlimah confirmed as Nzema East DCE

Axim (W/R), July 27, GNA- The Nzema East District Assembly on Tuesday unanimously confirmed the appointment of Mr Joshua Kwagya Anlimah, as the District Chief Executive.

All the 64 members of the assembly voted in favour of the President’s nominee in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission. Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, observed that even though district assemblies were supposed to be non-partisan many of them were represented on political party lines.

He said this had become so obvious in the deliberations of the assemblies despite the fact that national interest and development must take precedence over partisan interests.

Mr Aidoo urged members of the assemblies to unite and work towards the development of their areas irrespective of their social, political and religious differences.

Mr Anlimah said the district was lagging behind in development and his main task is to reverse this trend. He said he intends to open up the northern parts of the district by enhancing river transportation, providing infrastructure and improving the road network.

Mr Anlimah also said he would promote the President’s Special Initiative on Oil Palm, diversify the assembly’s revenue sources and create employment opportunities for the people. 27 July, 05
