Angry NPP Youth On Rampage At Ejisu

The Ejisu Juabeng NPP youth have hoisted red flags in the district capital and its environs as a symbol of plea to the President not to re-nominate the acting DCE, Ahenkora Afrifa, into office.

The youth, who said their action is in solidarity with the constituency executives of the NPP, have also claimed that it is the result of the DCE’s acts of fraud and corruption since he assumed office as District Chief Executive.

Chairman of the NPP youth, Mr Kwaku Afrane, has threatened that if the President goes ahead to re-nominate the DCE the youth would embark on a massive demonstration. There has been growing tension in the district following the delay in the nomination of the acting DCE, Ahenkora Afrifa, which information available says is a source of worry for the acting DCE, as the President has nominated a number of DCEs in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Ahenkora Afrifa has been further accused by the NPP executive of what they described as his poor relationship with the party. It is therefore not certain that he will be re-nominated for another mandate.

According to the party, he has never recognized the fact that it was the party that made it possible for him to occupy the position. They alleged that he has never met with the polling station executives or polling station agents, to discuss issues bordering on the welfare of the party in the constituency.

Investigations by The Independent revealed that about 90% of the assembly members in the electoral area have vowed not to vote for him if he is re-nominated by President Kufuor. Even some assemblymen have threatened to go to court should the President re-nominate the DCE.
