AngloGold Ashanti educates communities on Ebola

AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem (AAI) Mine has embarked on an Ebola education campaign in its host communities to prevent an outbreak of the disease.

The Mine in collaboration with the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate has already set up an Isolation Ward at the Tarkwa Old Government Hospital with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) trained staff.

Mr. Senyo Buake, Officer, AAI Mine, said the campaign aimed at educating the communities on preventive measures as part of the Mine’s Corporate Social Responsibility in the area of public health.

He said the campaign would offer residents the opportunity to ask questions about the disease in their native language.

Residents of Adeiyie, Mile 7, Domeabra, New Techiman and other communities who had benefited from the sensitization programme expressed their appreciation to the company for the initiative.
