The Catholic Bishop of Yendi, Vincent Sowah Boi-Na, has to called on the Andani and Abudu Royal families of Dagbon to revisit the road map for peace to find a lasting solution to their chieftaincy differences.
He urged the two families to liaise with the group of eminent chiefs in Kumasi to continue with the dialogue to peace.
The group of eminent chiefs which is led by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been facilitating the peace between the two families since the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis broke out in 2001.
Bishop Boi-Na made the call when he addressed the two royal families at a workshop organised by the Yendi Peace Centre in Yendi on Friday.
He said violence was not the way to solve the problem, hence the need for them to make compromises, which would pave the way for forgiveness and reconciliation.
He commended the key members of the two families, which included Mabadogu Iddrisu Iddi and Mabamali Salfu Abdulai of the Abudu Gate and Warikpan Na Fusieni Mahama and Zalinko Lana Fusieni Abdulai of the Andani Gate among others for attending the workshop to seek peace for Dagbon.
Mr Peter Atia, Secretary of the Centre said the workshop was the 89th to be organised by the body to seek peace in Dagbon.
He said the Centre started seeking for peace during the 1994 conflict in Dagbon.
Mr Atia commended people in the Municipality for the peaceful manner they had conducted themselves for the Biometric Voter Registration exercise.
Chief Superintendent of Police Joseph Allottey, Divisional Police Commander, said the police would continue to remain neutral in the discharge of their duties and appealed for peace to prevail in the area.**
