Amankwa-Tornu, Govt Provides Ambulance Boat For Ghana Health Service

Residents of Kwahu Afram Plains North District in the Eastern Region who
live within Islands, find it difficult to access health facilities because
most of them live along the Volta lake, pregnant women during labour board
a wooden boat owned by the Ghana Health Service which is in bad shape and
poses threat to the lives of residents and health officials. Their
situation became worse when this boat had to be abandoned because it had no
life jacket.

Government as a matter of urgency has provided an ambulance boat to convey
pregnant women and sick people who live within the islands like, Dwarf
Island, Fosso-Battor,Sidi-Kope, Amankwa- Tornu, Gbitugbi and Agordeke which
has no health facilities, even though, most communities on these islands
have chip compounds.

People of Kwahu Afram Plains North District in the Eastern Region can now
boast of an ambulance boat to convey pregnant women and people with health
issues to the nearest hospital for health care.
