A member of the ruling NDC’s legal team, Abraham Amaliba, has admitted that filing their addresses to expose the allegations by the Petitioners involved in the presidential election petition was a herculean task.
According to him, the addresses were more difficult than sorting out pink sheets under contention in the case.
Abraham Amaliba disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday.
Both the respondents and petitioners in the ongoing presidential election petition are expected to submit their addresses to the Supreme Court on Tuesday July 30, 2013 in a last gasp attempt to convince the judges as to why the argument for or against the petition must be considered.
The petitioners challenging the results of the 2012 general elections have filed their addresses with the Registrar at the Supreme Court.
Two of the lawyers, brought before the Registrar 16 boxes each containing legal documents and CD ROMs to back their claims that the 2012 elections were indeed flawed.
The respondents are on their way to file their addresses – Amaliba told Asempa FM.
Commenting on the 16 boxes submitted by the petitioners, the NDC man said “they [petitioners] have the burden of proof” so we are not bothered.
Abraham Amaliba disclosed that NDC and President John Mahama will file separate addresses because “both counsel have different minds”.
He added that the NDC will file only a 6-box address.
