AMA to get rid of unauthorised structures in city

Accra, July 20, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) will from next week, embark on an exercise to remove all unauthorized structures dotted in the Metropolis.

A statement by the Public Relations Department of the Assembly said the exercise, which would commence on July 29, is targeted at unauthorised metal containers, kiosks and structures. The exercise would be undertaken at East Legon Residential Area on July 29, Dzorwulu, Roman Ridge, Airport on August 2 and Cantonments August 5.

The Assembly asked all owners of unauthorized structures to remove them before the said dates to avoid any “unpleasant consequences”. “Owners of authorized structures who fail to remove the (unauthorised structures) before the dates will be surcharged with the cost of removal,” it said.
