AMA destroys unauthorised structures at Nkrumah Circle

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has demolished unauthorised structures at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to clear the area for free vehicular and human movement barely hours after a new flyover was inaugurated there by President John Mahama.

According to the traders, the AMA taskforce started the exercise on Tuesday dawn.

While the demolition exercise was ongoing, some traders were hooting at Accra mayor Alfred Oko Vanderpuije and making gestures to signal that they would vote for change in the December polls.

Mr Mahama inaugurated the £74million flyover on Monday and said it would help create thousands of jobs.

“With the opening of this interchange, we believe that several thousand more jobs will be created as a result of the trade and economic activity that this project will facilitate,” he said.
