Aliu Mahama ‘Died Campaigning For NPP’ – Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, has paid tribute to former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the man who served as his second-in-command for eight years.

Speaking in an interview on PeaceFM’s Evening News, following the demise of the former veep on Friday morning, Mr Kufuor described Mr Mahama as humble, hardworking and respectable.

The former President, who was almost lost for words, said the late Aliu Mahama was very hardworking and ‘died campaigning for the party.’

“He was a respectable person and very hardworking. He was so humble that he will do anything you asked him to. He was soft spoken and I am saddened by the news of his demise. Even in the party, he was very hardworking, especially in campaigning for Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo (flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, NPP) and his running mate, Mahamudu Bawumia up to the point that he fell ill and was rushed to the hospital…He died campaigning for NPP,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Nana Akufo Addo and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has suspended their campaign to join family members, friends as well the whole nation to mourn the man who is said to have played a pivotal role in their campaign.
