Alhaji Gruzah brought Fulanis to Agogo – Kontihene

It is Alhaji Karim Gruzah, who introduced the current crop of Fulanis to Agogo, Kontihene of the Agogo Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Nti, has told Ekow Mensah-Shalders on Class91.3fm’s Executive Breakfast Show on Friday February 5.

According to Nana Kwame Nti, Alhaji Gruzah, who owns King Faisal Football Club, was granted permission by the Traditional Council four years ago, to rear his cattle in Agogo, upon a request he made, but was told he could only do so in a ranch, but failed to abide by that condition.

Nana Kwame Nti said Alhaji Gruzah hired the services of Fulanis to graze his cattle for him in Agogo, a situation, which he said has brought untold trouble to the indigenes.

“They are harming us, raping, destroying food crops, we are fed up…” Nana Kwame Nti said. According to him, the Fulanis, who grazed their cattle in Agogo prior to four years ago, only transited the area without settling there.

Alhaji Gruzah has, however, declined comments on the matter. He recently complained of the killing of nine of his cattle by locals in Agogo.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional National Best Farmer for 2015 said on the same programme that it is important for the Immigration Service to control the entry of Fulanis into the country, since their presence poses a great threat to locals in the area.
