Alhaji Amadu Seidu gets the nod for Yapei/Kusawgu

Tamale, July 17, GNA- Alhaji Amadu Seidu, the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu has been re-elected to represent the constituency for the 2004 general election.

Alhaji Seidu polled 149 votes to beat two other contestants, Mr Salifu Yaquob Wilson and Mr John Adams who polled 66 and 25 votes respectively at a constituency delegates’ congress at Yapei.

A press statement issued in Tamale on Friday by the Northern Regional Secretariat of the NDC and signed by Alhaji Abdulai Harruna the party’s regional secretary, confirmed his re-election.

Alhaji Seidu, the statement said, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and assured the people that he would work harder to make the party retain the seat.

Mr Wilson and Mr Adams pledged their support to Alhaji Seidu. In a related development, Mr Nambuur Berrick incumbent Member of Parliament for Bunkprugu/Yonyoo has also been endorsed as NDC Parliamentary candidate for the December election at a delegates’ conference at Bunkpurugu.
