Akuma SDA Primary School gets 400 million cedi block

Akuma (B/A), Nov. 23, GNA – The Nkoranza District Assembly is constructing a block of six classrooms for the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Primary School at Akuma, a farming community at a cost of over 400 million cedis.

The project is one of the Assembly’s GETFUND projects being undertaken in selected schools in the district.

Mr. Jonathan Berko Badu, Head teacher of the school who conducted the Ghana News Agency round to inspect the building said the block also comprised of an office and a store, a staff common room and a library.

Mr. Badu said a water closet and a borehole were also being constructed for the school to enhance the sanitation of the area.

He paid special tribute to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi for his concern and efforts in providing a number of school infrastructural facilities to enhance education in the district.

Mr. Badu said that but for the offer of the school block by the Assembly, the community would not have been able to provide such facility as the people were faced with financial problems.

The teachers in the area were even finding difficulty in collecting school fees from their pupils and students because the parents were reluctant to pay.

Mr. Badu announced that the PTA of the school had started a cashew farm for the school to serve as an income-generating venture to support its activities.

The Akuma SDA Primary School is one of the 20 selected schools in the Nkoranza District earmarked to receive support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools Projects (QUIPS).

Mr. Badu commended the teachers on his staff for their unity and cooperation.
