In Their Exams.
Once again another semester has come to an end and you will be starting your exams from today. As you begin your end of semester exams, I wish to extend to you my best wishes for a peaceful and successful exam.
You have been through a hectic semester. Your lecturers have put in their best in teaching you. You have studied hard to justify your lecturers’ efforts. The examination should serve as the icing on the cake and the crowning moment of all the semester’s efforts. I have absolute confidence in your abilities and I pray the good lord guide you through a successful exam.
My faith in youth is absolute. It has always been my passion to work with young people, not just to develop our nation, but more importantly to develop themselves and hone their talents. Perhaps that is why I have come to develop such a good chemistry with young people with whom I am always pleased to work for the achievement of worthy causes. My interaction over the years with the young people of our country like you gives me the confidence that this country will move forward again after what promises to be four years of stagnation and even backward movement.
May I reiterate a point that I have repeatedly made these past two years, that education is the only way by which we can dramatically change the fortunes of our country and join the group of developed nations. But let me state my basic belief that the most important asset of any nation is its people, particularly its youth.
No country has been able to shed the evils of poverty, ignorance and disease with a largely illiterate population. We everyday lament the fact that we started from the same pedestal as nations like Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea. The truth is that they have made it simply by wiping out illiteracy and empowering a generation of citizens with the skills to power their nation’s development.
It is therefore my hope that you will all take your studies seriously and more importantly pass your exams, so that you can create the necessary foundation that will allow us to engage your talents for the forward movement of our country.
Once again, I wish you all the best in your examination and a very enjoyable long vacation period. God bless the youth of Ghana. Long live Ghana!
