Akufo-Addo: Quality, accessible education will Ghana a global player

Two-time presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says Ghana can only become influential in the global scheme of things if the West African country invested a lot in the education of its young people.

In a statement signed by himself to wish all candidates of the basic education certificate examination good luck as they start their final papers tomorrow (Monday June 17), Nana Akufo-Addo said: “I believe that a society that aims to transform itself into a modern productive player in the global market, as we in Ghana must seek to do, can only do so with education and skills training of its young people. Quality, accessible education is the key to Ghana’s future.”

The former Attorney General, who promised to implement a free senior high school education policy in the lead-up to the 2012 presidential elections said: “Education is a matter of the greatest importance to the prosperity and welfare of any society.”

He wished the hundreds of thousands of final year Junior High School students who are preparing to take the examination from Monday, 16th June to Friday, 20th June, “the very best of luck.”

Akufo-Addo recently picked nomination forms to contest his party’s flagbearer slot for the fourth time, hoping to be the NPP’s candidate for the third consecutive time.
