Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Coordinator of President John Mahama’s campaign, has said that New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has made it obvious that he does not have the patience that Ghanaians want from their leader.
Afriyie Ankrah described Akufo-Addo’s behavior at the Kumasi Peace Accord two days ago as enough to convince Ghanaians not to entrust the resources of the country in his hands.
Speaking at the signing of a peace pact at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo mentioned a purported attack on NPP supporters in the Bono Ahafo constituency of Asutifi South by the supporters of Transport Minister Collins Dauda and called for the attackers’ arrest and prosecution.
He also made reference to the Yaw Boateng-Gyan tape, on which a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member allegedly plots electoral violence, and said it must also be investigated by an independent body that would publish its findings. He added that the people are not confident that employees of the security agencies are “party colour blind.”
Speaking to Joy News’s Seth Kwame Boateng on the sidelines of the President’s campaign in the Central Region, Afriyie Ankrah who is also Deputy Local Government Minister, said that President Mahama is clearly the best option for Ghana’s next President.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has reiterated his commitment to promoting quality education if the NDC is elected for a second term. He also repeated his plea to the people to reject the NPP and their promise of free senior high school.
Addressing rallies at Assin-Praso, Assin-Breku, Assin-Fosu and Twifo-Praso, Mahama told the crowd that the opposition party’s promise is a ploy to woo Ghanaians voters but that the NPP themselves know that the task is impossible.
He expressed confidence that the people of the Central Region will not turn their backs on the NDC because of the numerous development projects that have benefitted the people there since the NDC took power in 2008.
In a related development, Mahama told students of Cape Coast Polytechnic and University of Cape Coast late Wednesday to carefully assess each party’s manifesto and vote for the one with the best policies on job creation.
The President said that his party is offering the best policy on job creation and promised to keep accelerating the pace of economic growth to create more jobs for the youth.
