Akufo-Addo ends Volta tour

Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo brought his tour of the Volta Region to an end on Saturday, September 5.

The NPP leader has been on tour of the Region since Thursday as part of his month-long nationwide tour dubbed: ‘Rise and Build Tour’.

On the last day of his tour of a region which gives the opposition party its least votes, Nana Addo canvassed for the support from the Region in next year’s elections.

“I’ve come to ask the people of the Volta Region to trust me and to have confidence in me,” he stated.

“The change we seek to bring is a change that will cover all parts of the country without discrimination. The Volta Region is going to benefit strongly from an Akufo-Addo government…I am saying to the people of the Volta Region that I am not going to disappoint you. The trust you put in me, I will not disappoint you.”

Nana Addo had met party faithfuls, parliamentary candidates, constituency executives and losing parliamentary candidates over crucial support he needs from the Region because “if they help put me in office, they know the resources of the country are going to be dealt with honestly by the next President of Ghana in 2017.”

He reassured the people that when given the nod in the 2016 elections, “I am not going to steal the money of the people of Ghana. I am not a thief. My whole career in public and private life tells you that I am not a thief. It is not at this stage of my life that I am going to steal the money of the people, when I haven’t done that before.”

The next phase of the ‘Rise and Build Tour’ will see Nana Akufo-Addo visit the Eastern Region from Monday, September 7 to Wednesday, September 9 before moving to the three Northern Regions.
