Akoto Osei re-elected as Old-Tafo NPP parliamentary candidate

Kumasi, May 8, GNA – Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, Minister of State in charge of Finance and Economic Planning was on Thursday, re-elected unopposed as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for 2008 elections at Old-Tafo in Kumasi.

The Electoral Commission (EC), which announced this at the constituency’s delegate’s conference at Old-Tafo said, Dr Osei was declared unopposed because Mr Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie his contestant withdrew his candidature.

Mr Robert Owusu Amankwaah, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, expressed happiness with the popular acclamation shown by the delegates in re-electing Dr Osei as the Parliamentary candidate.

He thanked Mr Owusu-Afriyie for stepping down to enable Dr Osei to continue his good works and ensure the development of the Constituency. Dr Osei in his acceptance speech said, his popular acclamation symbolized the resolve by the delegates and the rank and file of the party to unite to ensure victory in December elections. He promised to serve them to ensure accelerated growth and development of the Constituency.
