Ahmadi Muslims to hold 85th annual convention

Ahmadi Muslims across the country will on Thursday, January 12, converge at Pomadze near Winneba Junction in the Central Region to begin a three-day annual convention.

The 85th annual national convention, on the theme: “The Role of Religion in Engendering Patriotism,” would be officially opened by Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana.

According to a release issued and signed by Mr Mohammed Affum with the Publicity Sub Committee of the Jalsa Salana Planning Committee of the Mission, the convention would examine many pertinent religious issues.

Among them is how religion, as a body of guidance from God for man’s moral and spiritual development, instills in citizens the love for their respective countries and avoid split loyalty between religion and the state.

Ahmadi Muslim scholars and professionals, including medical practitioners, lawyers, agriculture experts, and theologians, are expected to address the convention.

A delegation from Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire are also expected to be in attendance.

Topics to be discussed include Hijab-Symbol of dignity and morality and Obedience to Khiulafat- Pathway to Progress.

The Jalsa Salana Convention, held annually by Ahmadi Muslim communities in more than 200 countries including Ghana, was instituted by the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim |Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India in 1892.

It was to enable every sincere Ahmadi Muslim to personally experience true religious benefits and the existence of Allah, the All-Living.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was brought to Ghana in 1921 by a devout Indian Ahmadi Muslim Missionary, Ameer Alhaj Maulana Abdur Raheem Nayyar.
