Agona West MP meets heads of department

Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West has called on Heads of Department in the Municipality to be punctual to work to increase productivity and growth.

He said lateness and absenteeism could have negative effects on the decentralisation policy aimed at promoting development.

Mr Obeng-Inkoom made the call when he met with Heads of Department in the Municipality in Agona Swedru.

He said government is aware of the numerous problems facing them in the areas of finance, means of transport and other logistics and said plans are being made to solve them.

The MP urged them to put their political affiliations aside and rally behind the government to ensure the success of the second phase of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Mr Obeng-Inkoom said he has prioritised education, health and sanitation on his agenda.

Mr Samuel Oppong, the Municipal Chief Executive appealed to the Heads to change negative attitudes that could undermine development.

He said the Assembly has through Ghana Education Trust Fund presented more than 7,000 mono and dual desks to private and public primary and Junior High Schools in the Municipality to enhance quality education.

Mr Frank Matey Korley, Municipal Town and Country Planning Officer, expressed regret about the haphazard manner estate developers are putting up buildings.
