Agona Nkum celebrates peaceful Akwambo Festival

Mr. Samuel Mporta, the Agona West Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended the Chiefs of Agona Nkum for releasing lands to the government for the building of a police post and other development projects.

Mr. Mporta made the commendation when he attended a durbar with other members of the party in the Constituency, to commemorate the Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and people of Agona Nkum.

The programme was on the theme: “Bridging the Gap between Tradition and Education, a Tool for a Better Future”.

Mr. Mporta said the 10.6 – kilometer road from Mensahkrom to Agona Nkum, under re-construction would help facilitate the free movement of goods and services in the area.

He said the 18.9-kilometre Nkum to Breman Asikuma Road had been awarded on contract and assured the people that the contractor would commence work by the end of October.

He encouraged the people to support the Government to develop the area.

He later presented two bottles of Schnapps and an undisclosed amount to them as their contribution towards the celebrations of the festival.

Nana Nyarkah Ekuah III, Odikro of Agona Nkum and Obaatan of Agona Traditional Area, commended those who had supported the development of the area in diverse ways.
