Agogo residents to demonstrate against Fulani herdsmen

Residents of Agogo in the Ashanti Regional will embark on a “peaceful” demonstration against the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the area on Tuesday.

Tension has been mounting at Agogo in recent times following a clash between the local youth and the Fulanis, which has led to the deployment of security forces in the area.

The protest, which will begin at the main Lorry Station, is being organized by the Agogo Youth Association in conjunction with the Agogo Traditional Council and Agogo Local Council of Churches.

A statement released by the group said, “Agogo Mman Kuo(Local Branch) and Agogo Youth Association in conjunction with Agogo Traditional Council and Agogo Local Council of Churches will embark on a peaceful demonstration on the continuous stay of the Fulani herdsmen on Agogo Stool lands.

According to the statement , the protest will be addressed by Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, MP for the area, Kwadwo Odur, Local Chairman, Agogo Mman Kuo, Emmanuel Buabeng,Chairman, AYASS and Rev. Ishmael Kofi Acquah, Chairman of Local Council of Churches.
