Ho, Oct 26 GNA – Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Ho-Asogli Traditional Area has declared the last Sunday in every October as a non-denominational thanksgiving day, when prayers would be said for prosperity and the development of the area.
He explained that events, which led to his selection, confinement, enstoolment and successful inauguration, made it possible for him to institute such a Day noting that thanksgiving should be a lifeline for everybody.
Togbe Afede was speaking at a non-denominational thanksgiving service to climax his enstoolment as the Paramount Chief and President of the Asogli state in Ho, on Sunday.
He was enstooled on October 4, this year, succeeding his late uncle Togbe Afede Asor II, who ruled for 50 years.
Togbe Afede called on the people to develop positive mindsets to enable them to consolidate the gains they have made in life and to contribute meaningfully to development.
Bishop Matthias Medadues Badohu, Bishop of Ho Anglican Diocese, delivering the sermon, exhorted the new Agbogbomefia to rule with equity, love and humility and to asked for God’s blessing in all his endeavours adding that “nothing divine comes on a silver-platter”. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness would be added to you”, he said.
Bishop Badohu appealed to Togbe Afede to unite all chiefs in the region to bring dignity to bear on the chieftaincy institution.
Mr Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, the Volta Regional Minister, asked the Agbogbomefia to wage war against ignorance, poverty, misery, disease and indiscipline that militated against development.
The Regional Minister commended the Chiefs, Kingmakers, and Council of Elders for ensuring a peaceful succession adding that the Asogli State had established an enviable feat worthy of emulation by other traditional areas in the region.
