Afrifa To Be Re-buried On January 26

One of the six former Heads of State whose remains were recently handed over to their families will be reburied on Saturday, January 26. The re-burial and final funeral rites of the late General Amankwaaa Afrifa, chairman of the erstwhile National Liberation Council will take place at Krobo in the Ashanti Region.

A family member, Thomas Atakora told the GNA that the General’s mortal remains would be taken to Kumasi by a military helicopter on Friday, January 25. He said a cortege would pass through some major streets in Kumasi en-route to Asante-Mampong.

The remains of the General, which were exhumed at Adoagyiri in Nsawam along with other seven top military officers executed in 1979, was handed-over to his family on December 27.
