Afari-Gyan is the best electoral commissioner in Africa – NDC MPs

The majority in Parliament has defended the credibility of Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan.

The majority lawmakers say the EC boss has led a team of commissioners who have, on consistent basis, transformed the electoral system in the country since 1992.

They have rejected calls for Dr Afari-Gyan’s resignation, by some opposition groups.

MP for North Dayi and deputy ranking member of the Public Accounts Committee, George Loh, speaking to XYZ News said calls for the EC boss to resign are unfortunate.

“Afari-Gyan’s credibility still stays intact, he is still the best electoral commissioner we have in Africa and we are proud of it,” he added.

Mr. Loh has also rejected claims by former President Kufuor that the EC can’t be the appropriate institution to lead the way for electoral reforms, following calls for such reforms to take place ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
