Action Aid becomes national NGO

Accra, March 4, GNA – Action Aid International Ghana (AAIG) has now been registered as a national nongovernmental organisation (NGO) with a local Board of Directors to enable it to have flexibility in its work and engage in national debates more directly.

It now has a dual identity as a local NGO associated with an International NGO, Action Aid International.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Mr Ramesh Singh, Chief Executive of Action Aid International, said its legitimacy as a Ghanaian NGO would make its work transparent and be accountable to its partners.

He said in response to the changing nature and causes of poverty in the world it had become necessary for the Action Aid Group in more than 44 countries to register as national organisations in their respective countries.

Mr Singh said Action Aid provided a massive strong partnership in fund raising as well as a global movement in the fight against global poverty.
